DAY 3 / OCTOBER 28TH, 2010

Boy oh boy did I keep hitting that snooze button this morning HAHA.

Today was my first day this go around with a second resident and I think it went pretty smoothly. I knew and learned that the whole time management thing would probably take a little trial and error. Today was our last day there this week before Halloween, so I had brought (treats)candy and a cake for all of us and the staff. Also when I first got there I talked to one of the staff and planned a little trick for our instructor :0) when we all went on break and everyone was enjoying cake, I excused myself and hurried to change into a "Grim Reaper" costume in the break room. We also set up a strobe light, music, and shut the lights off. I hid in the restroom and they went and got her, she came running cuz they used the excuse I had got sick again. When she came in, she just started laughing when she realized and saw me HAHA. They wanted me to walk outside to the students, and the minute I walked out that room one of the little old ladies said "Oh My Gosh, What Is That Thing" HAHA. That was a little fun on a stressful day. When I say stressful, today I was asked to do my vitals (blood pressure, pulse rate, and respiration) and be checked off on those. I was so excited to do them especially blood pressure cuz I had those new telescopic glasses that I can use to do it hands free. I did the pulse and respirations great, but the new glasses did not work to do the blood pressure. I honestly think it was the lighting in the room, but that is no excuse and I had to resort to my handheld magnifier for the blood pressure like in the classroom. I could see the dial fine, but I was so worried at this point whether the instructor could see the dial also I was moving it and I missed the count. I am very hard on myself and there should be no reason I could not of done that, but was more frustrated that the glasses did not work and scared that this is going to be my downfall at boards.

I decided this weekend Im going to go out and buy my own stethoscope and cuff and I'm going to practice my tail off. I'm going to figure out why the glasses aren't working now, when they just worked. For me, at boards I would love the challenge of getting blood pressure as one of my skills and passing it. That would be sweet success :0)

Monday will be the day i've been trying to get to for about 4 months now, but the journey will definently not end there!!! Talk Soon :0)
